    Buddhismus, Hinduismus, Christentum und Islam sind die größten Religionsgemeinschaften, die auf Sri Lanka anzutreffen sind. Der Buddhismus, dem mehr als 70% der Bevölkerung anhängen, hat das Land geprägt. Etwa 15% der Einwohner sind Hindus, 8% Muslime und etwa 7% Christen.
